Poppy

Hello folks.  We have another challenge at One Stitch At A Time so how about popping over to see all the fabulous creations by the design team.  The prize this month is a $10 coupon to spend in the store :)

Challenge 265 Theme

'Anything Goes with FLOWERS'

For my DT creation this week and our theme of AG with Flowers I used a beautiful image by Stitchy Stamps called 'Poppy'.  This is a silhouette image which I added a dark red overlay too in Photoshop.  I then duplicated the layer and then reversed it.  Both images on the two layers were then rotated to create a heart shape.  I printed the image along with two more copies of just the flower heads.  Next I decoupaged the flowers and then rubber stamped my sentiment (I have just seen how squint that looks grrrrrr).  To finish off I used some Papermania patterned paper and distressed the edges then rubbed them over with Tim Holtz distress ink, the same treatment was given to the cut and finished image topper and the card base.  Three wee white hearts and a burgundy bow finished off the card rather nicely.  The image below shows the decoupage layering of the flowers.

Ingredients:-
  • Image -  'Poppy' by Stitchy Stamps
  • From my Stash -  Papermania paper, hearts, Tim Holtz distress ink, burgundy bow and rubber sentiment stamp

Challenge 66
Be Independent

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

When I hear the words 'be independent' I always think of 'standing on your own two feet' and that was the starting point for this creation.  So when in life would one gain their independence - for me that is an 18th birthday when by law you are independently responsible for all your own actions and can no longer have somebody else take the blame for your mistakes!!!!!  I wonder how many of us dreamed as kids of the day when we could make our own decisions regardless of the consequences that led us into deep water as we grew up :) :) :).

Anyway, for my creation for this theme I have made an eighteenth birthday time to leave the nest card using Dippy Duckz by IKEsART.  The image was created initially from a photo of a pond which I then digitally made into a greyscale drawing through some Photoshop add on tools.  I then added my ducks and printed.  Lots of colouring on this one lol using Promarkers and Polychromos.  The main duck at the front was printed and coloured 3 times and then decoupaged and attached with a double layer of foam tape.

Ingredients:-
  • image - Dippy Duckz by IKEsART
  • colouring medium - Promarkers, Polychromos Pencils
  • from my stash - Snow Writer

Love You Flowers

Hello folks.  We have another challenge at One Stitch At A Time so how about popping over to see all the fabulous creations by the design team.  The prize this month is a $10 coupon to spend in the store :)

Challenge 264 Theme

'Anything Goes with LAYER IT UP'

I had this creation all planned in my head and some lovely layering using my Spellbinder when we had a 'passing' in the house.  After two surgeries to mend a broken handle my Spellbinder gave up the ghost with a broken gear - :( :( :( one very sad bunny.  On a brighter note this happened on the same day I got an email from Crafters Companion re the launch of the Gemeni, is that perfect timing or what.  Now I have to wait to get to the UK to collect the big box from my daughters lol.  As you can see I am working well in advance of publication dates, I won't have time to craft when back in the UK as my time is already fully booked so must get my DT commitments done now :).  My saving grace is that I also have an electronic cutter so used a super square mult layered design from Monica's Craftroom.  The layers were cut in alternating mauve pearl card and white linen card.  The image used is 'Love You Flowers' by Reeces Scrap Pieces, one of three in the digi set.  I printed the flower nine - yes nine (well it is a Layer It Up challenge!!!!) and then decoupaged each layer removing one petal at a time.  Each layer was added to the one before with a glue dot as I did not want to much height at this point, the layers below were all attached with foam tape.  I also designed the With Love sentiment and this was also cut with my cutter and attached to the card with foam tape.

Ingredients:-
  • Image  -  'Love You Flowers' by Reeces Scrap Pieces
  • Colouring medium - Promarkers and Polychromos
  • Dies - Monica's Craftroom
  • From my Stash - just the card :)

Opposites Attract

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

I often think of cats and dogs as being the opposites of family pets with their very different requirements and generally depicted as not being the best of friends (have to admit I don't see that in real life lol), anyway, that is the basis of the opposites theme for this challenge.  I followed that through by using opposite colours on the colour spectrum - purple and yellow.  The layout was also based on opposites as you can see.  I designed the papers using the basic colours and added cat paw prints to the purple paper and dog paw prints to the yellow paper.  For the die cut in the centre I again used half purple card and half yellow card.  To bring the whole them together I included the sentiment - Love knows no bounds which I felt sums up so many of the unities we see across all plains of live where what is seen as an opposite and assumed should not get on works out just fine.

Ingredients:-
  • image - I Bopz U by IKEsART
  • colouring medium - Polychromos
  • dies - Monica's Craft Room
  • from my stash - lace

Angels and White Feathers

I was sitting alone at home this evening and had the urge to make something for the Digitally Sweet Challenge going 100% digital :).  This will be turned into a card for my Mum who is not very well at the moment.  The rose is taken from a photo my Mum took of one of the many roses she grows in her garden and is not able to enjoy at the moment.

Following the theme of Green, white and one other colour - I first created my background by using a pattern brush in Photoshop and several shades of green on a white background, I then blurred the artwork to make a soft but textured base and added a gradient - transparent to pink.  I then duplicated this layer and reduced the transparency and resized the paper to give the overall impression of a glassy border with the darker paper inside.  next I imported the rose photo and removed the background.  The feather, a white one as this represents an angel close by which my Mum needs at this moment in time was created using a Photoshop brush from Obsidian Dawn.  The text was then added in white with pink outline.
