Challenge #9 - Stitching (real or faux)

I had so much fun making this card :) :), the background was a large background stamp with a stitching theme which I used with gold ink.  The border was cut with a Desire die.  For the swirls I used a Clarity stamp and blue and gold ink.  I then stitched over some of the swirls with black thread.  The needle and thread die are from X-Cut and the flower dies from Desire.  The flowers were made from the scraps of card base I had left over and finished off with black Pan Pastels and Silver varnish spray.   For the sentiment I double stamped to try and give a shadow effect, have to admit I did not get it quite right but it still looks cool.  To finish off I added the blue buttons so the whole card not only follows the stitching them but also items used in stitching :)

Oh Seriously!!!!!!

Challenge 89
Anything Goes with an optional TWIST .... Happy
(make someone smile)

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

What a surprise one day when I found Ike had messaged me with a cracking new image - 'Oh Seriously'.  Ike knows I am reliving my childhood at the moment and a dream of owning my own horse, his name is Jay.  I am also teaching wee kids to ride at our local stables so early mornings, smell of horse muck, hay etc. are all part of my daily life along with my quiet time of crafting.  The expression on the Oh Seriously horse totally cracked me up lol.  We have one lovely big 16.2 hand horse called Storm, he is a clever boy, quick to learn and so very obliging.  One day, when we were getting all the horses ready for the stables to open after the Summer break (I am in Saudi and during the Summer when temperatures are in the mid to high 40 degrees we close as it is unsafe to ride the horses in high heat). we put a lead rein on Storm to see how he would react if we used him with adult new learner riders.  His face was exactly like the Oh Seriously horse, he was so peeved and would not do anything, take the lead rein off and he behaved like the perfect gentleman he really is again.  Thank you Ike for this truly awesome image.

I finished off my card with a border I made using another of Ike's images, Laughing Horse, both this and and background of the main image were coloured with Pan Pastels to match in with the backing paper.

Ingredients:-
  • image - Oh Really and Laughing Horse by IKEsART
  • colouring medium - Polychromos and Pan Pastels

Hot Gift Bags

Challenge #8 - Hot Colours

This theme is probably my least favourite as it means I have to work with colours I am least comfortable with, I am a blue and purple lover, the calm colours, not the reds and oranges which to me are angry colours :) :) :) But what to do, it is a challenge after all and it is rather good to be removed from ones comfort zone every now and again.  I hunted through my images but there was nothing I wanted to colour with reds and oranges except flowers and I feel I have done a fair few of them recently so needed another idea.  I knew I had a bunch of design papers as I keep adding to my collection, don't know why as I don't like working with them but they do look pretty in the shop :) :) :) and when they are free in a magazine then it would be sacrilege to throw them away!!!!  A hunt through my papers found a few A6 sized sheets in the dreaded colours but so small - what to do with them.  Then a brain wave, (I get the odd one every now and again :) :) :) ) - make some really small bags which I can use to give to my friends with wee gifts inside.  I have to admit the bags were a bit fiddly to make but I love the outcome, even though they are red and orange :) :)

Blossom

Challenge 88
Anything Goes with an optional TWIST .... Flying Fairy

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

For this card I used the image 'Blossom', a great favourite of mine and used quite a few times :) :) The image was coloured with Polychromos pencils and the flower centres with Flower Soft. I added some dew drops dripping off the flowers by using my glue gun.  The background was created with Pan Pastels and the scraps I had left over after cutting the area needed were used to make the corner embellishments.  In keeping with the optional theme of flying fairies I drew in a couple of fairies by hand  (not very good but I did try hahaha).  The sentiment was stamped using a clear stamp and the final part of the card was to carry the orange theme through by adding some orange Stickles to the corner embellishments and an orange mat.

Ingredients:-
  • image - Blossom by IKEsART
  • colouring medium - Polychromos and Pan Pastels
  • extras - Dies, Stickles, Flower Soft, glue gun, sentiment clear stamp
